The V&A water taxi driver obviously didn't realise quite what a high spring tide it was and thought he could just squeeze under the Bascule Bridge. He couldn't. There was a howling south-easter blowing which jammed the boat sideways so hard against the bridge that they couldn't open it for fear of ripping the sea shuttle's roof off.
