Our Goals
  • To introduce Breast Cancer Survivors to the sport of dragon boat racing with the aim of improving their general physical and psycological fitness and so aiding their recovery.
  • To show these survivors that physical activity and fun exist after cancer
  • To provide a healthy and inspirational image.
  • To provide a support group of positive, optimistic, dynamic friends.

A promise made at the Club Crew World Champs in Rome 2002 to Dragon's Abreast from Adelaide
and to Vancouver's Abreast in a Boat here at the CCWC 2004 in Cape Town has at last been kept.

Three attempts were made previously to keep this promise but we were unable to find people in the oncological field to recruit for us. Forth time lucky - this time we have two enthusiastic reps, Pam and Barbara, from sanofi aventis helping recruit paddlers. At our first paddle on April 6th 2006 we had a full boat with BCS ladies, some clinic staff, one surgeon and 5 paddlers from Paddlesnappers and Mujaji. This was followed by a welcome cocktail party and slideshow in marina manager Wayne's office.

Practice times : Wednesdays 17h30 for 18h00 and Saturdays 10h00 for 10h30.
