My life and dragonboating

  • First contact: member of Deutsche Schule Kapstadt (DSK) - corporate team - the Drachenschweine at Cape Town International Dragon Boat Festival November 2002 - we won the corporate section!
  • DSK formed a junior team after this event, which represented South Africa at World Championships 2003 - I became the manager and chairman of this team in October 2003 after that event (I took over from Milan).
  • Participating in Cape Town Internationals in November: managing our Club team and being captain of two (!) Corporate teams as the school was represented by more than 60 people
  • Managing DSK's Club team, now called the Tsunami Dragons (this was before THE tsunami) at the Club Crew World Championships in Cape Town in April 2004 and participating in corporate team
  • Since then there have been many big or small regattas and a lot of fun
  • Since last year member (without portfolio)of the WCDBA Committee

My other life (less important)

School, school and school until it was finally over
but I liked it so much, I decided to become a teacher

1992-1999: being a student at university
(in Germany everything takes a bit longer)

1999-2002: moved to Cologne for first practical experiences

July 2002: moved to Cape Town as a German & History teacher
at the Deutsche Internationale Schule Kapstadt (DSK)

February 2006: Still here
