Zandra Dixon

Zandra was born in the Namib Desert
does this explain her passion for water sports?!

My first contact with paddling was in 1995 when I was waitress at the local hang out for the Felix Unite river guides. In 1996 I went to work for Robbie Herreveld (the legendary K1 champ) in his Cape Town business. He taught me to paddle K1 and Sea kayaks. While in Cape Town I also started scuba diving and was involved with specialist foul weather gear (Helly Hansen)

Then moved to Johannesburg where I was involved in white water kayaking, touring kayaking, K1, tried white water canoeing, and various other disciplines of paddling. I was then working within the industry and quite involved in equipment sales and technical advice. (Boats, paddles and accessories)

Having studied PR and Marketing after school, after a quick return to the mother city I started freelance consultation to the adventure sport industry. I also spent six months as a laminator in order to understand moulds and boats. I spent three years in the sailing charter industry before deciding to make my fortune in BILTONG.

It was during this period that an amazing and friendly group of people used to come down the Marina slipway on late evenings and early Saturday mornings say hi. In January 2004 I was given a chance to join this group and have been with Mujaji ever since.
